Bailey: I was looking to join a strong, supportive and motivating business development team. I wanted to work in a firm where business development is an integral part of the firm.
Bailey: The Zoom interviews were very helpful. I also enjoyed the final interview with some of my team members where there was no set agenda, but a general conversational to get to know each other better. We discussed interests, such as books and hobbies. That gave me more of an idea of who my potential team members were on a personal level.
Bailey: The help desk was extremely supportive. I called them multiple times in the first few days for assistance and they were ready to jump on and explain anything. Having the resources available along with clear instructions has made the virtual onboarding experience easier and smoother.
Bailey: Honestly, it’s been a very smooth process so far. Developing relationships virtually is more difficult as I can’t just pop into someone’s office to introduce myself, but I met many people over Zoom and on various calls and my team has made sure I am very involved. I am looking forward to eventually going back into the office and developing relationships in person.
Bailey: Communication is key. Making myself available and being eager to take on any task has helped me to learn about the firm and to acclimate myself. Having the support of my manager has been extremely valuable. She really opened the doors between myself and the lawyers, making sure I am building relationships, and am heard and involved.
Bailey: Take the risk! There is no reward without risk. It may be a daunting time to move to a new firm but it can definitely be more than worth it.
